About SD_AC
The Doctoral School of Automatic Control and Computers benefits from the research infrastructure and logistic support of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers (A&C). SD_AC was founded at the proposal of the UPB Senate, validated by the Executive Bureau of UPB, and approved by UPB’s Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD) in 2012.
SD_AC organizes full-time scientific doctoral studies both funded from the budget of the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research and in the tax-payment system for Romanian and foreign students.
Doctoral Domains
SD_AC organizes doctoral study programs in two domains:
in the fundamental domain of Engineering Sciences.
Admission
Admission is organized annually in two sessions: July and September. Foreign candidates are admitted only after completing the pre-selection process. The duration of doctoral studies is three years, with the possibility of a one-year extension in well-justified cases.
Structure of the Doctoral Cycle
Student Learning Program
3 months in the first year, based on advanced university studies.
Individual Research Program
5 semesters of individual scientific research under a supervisor's guidance.
International Partnerships
Joint PhD theses with prestigious European universities, research internships.
Research Topics
SD_AC addresses current scientific research topics supporting the progress of computer science, system science, service science, ICT, and applied informatics, fostering knowledge-based innovation for economic growth.
